Akademie Schloss Solitude had been providing sanctuary for artistic individuals to develop their sets free of deadlines and societal pressure in both digital and physical forms.

Akademie Schloss Solitude believes in freedom of education; it does not subscribe to the modern type of learning that has students in a chokehold via deadlines and other constraints, rather the Akademie Schloss Solitude provides broad public access to artistic thought and action thanks to a diverse range of public events.

It believes in the unity of artistic, and scientific exchange with the notion of a sanctuary; a doctrine which underlays the construction of the Schloss Solitude from the very beginning. 

And in line with its doctrine, it is offering interested and eligible candidates (who would be referred to as “fellows” in that course of this article) a chance to devote themselves to their research projects under favourable material and intellectual conditions.

Value Of Akademie Schloss Solitude Fellowship:

The fellow would benefit the following from the Akademie Schloss Solitude Fellowship:

• A free, furnished living/working studio including electricity, water and heating, so you don’t have to worry about housing and other amenities expenses as it is included in this scholarship.

• The fellow would be awarded a monthly fellowship grant of € 1,200 for general expenditure.

• The travel expenses for arrival and departure (on a one-time basis) and this is regardless of which country you come from.

• The Akademie also offers optional additional benefits which are flexible in accordance with the current allotment situation of;

• Transport expenses subsidy for the carriage of materials, tools, instruments and books to Stuttgart and from Stuttgart to the fellow’s home town,

• Fellow’s Project funding and one-off materials subsidy,

• And finally, Health insurance in the case of non-EU fellowship candidates whose health insurance doesn’t cover all the way to Germany.

The fellows who receive this scholarship are enabled to work and research free of daily pressures and presentation deadlines.

The thing is, Akademie Schloss Solitude supports young artists, scholars, scientists, as well as cultural and economic professionals via residential fellowships and as long as the fellow studies any of the eligible disciplines and meets the requirements, they should apply.

The selection board for the Akademie Schloss Solitude (termed the “jury”) awards a maximum of sixty-five (65) fellows and got housing, forty-five (45) live/work studios and three (3) guest studios are available.

Scholarships are usually awarded for a period of six, nine or twelve months.

The scholarship is funded by the German province of Baden-Württemberg.

Eligibility Requirements For Akademie Schloss Solitude Fellowship:

1. All applying fellows must have their permanent residence in Stuttgart for the fellowship’s duration because you would be required to register your residence for confirmation purposes.

2. The applicant should not be older than 40 or have completed a university degree within the past five years.

3. Applications from students enrolled in degree programs will not be considered although PhD students may submit applications.

4. Proficient knowledge of either German and/or English and/or French is a condition for application.

5. The Solitude fellowship is a residential fellowship. Fellows would be required to spend at least two-thirds of their fellowships at the Akademie. 

Artist groups can apply.

However, each member has to be listed with personal data but only one contact information is needed.

Conclusion:

On a final note, there are three extra things you need to know;

1. There is a very limited number of fellowships that can be awarded regardless of the applicants’ age. 
2. Application rounds for Solitude fellowships are held every two years. 
3. Double applications to the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg (Arts Foundation Baden-Württemberg) and the Akademie Schloss Solitude are not permitted.
4. Applicants whose applications are refused during the current selection procedure may send in applications during two other rounds (maximum). 
5. Former fellows of the Akademie Schloss Solitude are not eligible.
