Covenant University, Ota JAMB and Departmental Cut-off Marks for 2021/2022 Admission
|It’s no surprise that many Nigerians aim towards attending Covenant University because it is regarded as one of the top 3 universities in Nigeria.
And as it is also void of the worrisome ASUU strike that keeps affecting both the federal and state Nigerian universities.
Covenant University is a leading Nigerian private university founded on 21 October 2002 in Canaan land, Ota, with a Pentecostal Christian background as it was founded by David Oyedepo,
the presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church aka winners chapel, who is also the chancellor of the university. They are said to have one of the largest library complexes in Africa, it is said to be an edifice with a total floor area of 11,300m2.
Covenant University offers grants and international scholarships to both local and international students.
In 2018, Covenant University was ranked as the highest Nigerian university in world universities’ ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE, 26 September, 2018).
Covenant University recently has also been selected as one of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact).

Admission is currently ongoing in Covenant University and it’s amazing that she has more than 36 areas of study across 4 colleges and 23 departments.
As stated by the school, prospective students of covenant university must register for JAMB and pass through JAMB’s cut-off mark/ prerequisite and must submit all application documents, on or before the given lifeline.
As an aspirant, your application is considered completed only if you successfully upload the following document in pdf format:
1. Statement of Purpose:
It shouldn’t be more than 500 words and should be submitted online with the application. It should include your academic interests, objectives, visions, and goals for life.
2. Birth Certificate
3. Original Jamb Result
4. WAEC or NECO Result (if available)∙
5. Letter of Sponsorship written and signed by your sponsor∙
6. Passport Photograph∙
7. Reference letter from schools principal/pastor
8. Three official recommendations from the following:
a. Spiritual Leader b. Principal /Teacher of your secondary school c. An alumnus of Covenant University (optional).
It should be noted that the school did not state the need for a Post-UTME cut-off mark. Which means they do not need it?
However, the cut-off mark of JAMB is compulsory. It is also stated that the minimum admission requirements into Covenant University are
Credit level passes in five necessary subjects at the SSCE/GCE /NECO or its equivalent with not more than two (2) sittings. These subjects must include English and Mathematics.
Candidates are to note that there are other requirements that might be specific to a department/ faculty.
Covenant University also conducts screening for all prospects or candidates seeking admission to the University and they also did state that applicants may not be admitted if they do not fulfill the demands of the screening.
The various colleges include:
1. College of management and social sciences
2. College of Engineering
3. College of leadership development studies
4. College of science and technology.
I hope you did note that unlike other Nigerian universities you won’t undergo Post-UTME so you do not need any extra cut-off mark aside from that of JAMB.
However, you will undergo screening before you can pass the admission processes.
