Duties of Accepted Candidate
1. Security Response And Investigation
- Manage university cyber security incidents from incident inception to resolution or mitigation and ensure the impact on university activities is minimized or eliminated as much as possible.
- Act as a point of contact for the effective reporting and follow-up of cyber security incidents between the University and Janet CSIRT regulatory bodies, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant parties
- Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats and alerts generated by cybersecurity and related tools.
2. Security Policy, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Recommend changes to cybersecurity risk registers, identify appropriate cybersecurity controls, and ensure that risk management and control owners are properly informed of their responsibilities.
- In response to legal and regulatory changes and emerging cybersecurity threats, recommend changes to university cybersecurity policies and review and update university cybersecurity procedures to ensure they meet the University’s business needs.
- Provide advice and recommendations on technical aspects of cybersecurity compliance and supplier due diligence.
3. Secure Computing
- By deploying appropriate tools, ensure robust processes and procedures that others can use to perform regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests to assist in threat detection and management.
- Identify and recommend mitigation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities in existing and planned IT services as well as other IT-dependent services.
4. Security Consulting And Education
- Guide achieving and maintaining compliance with externally mandated cybersecurity requirements.
- Establish and maintain a cybersecurity education and awareness program to ensure colleagues and students are aware of cybersecurity threats and mitigations.
5. Data overviews and Analytics
- Identify and compile cybersecurity metrics for NUIT reporting across the UniversityUniversity and off campus if necessary.

- Strong network security experience, e.g., network mapping, device discovery scanning, firewall rule evaluation.
- Conducting cyber security investigations
- Successful and appropriate use of encryption in a business environment
- Must be willing to undergo any necessary security and background checks appropriate to the role.
