Scholarships Awards For EU Students At EU University of St Andrews:
This scholarship is offered to encourage international students to apply to the University of St Andrews, and in this case, it is focused on EU students.
Although the University of St Andrews offers a host of scholarships for international students from any country in this world, this scholarship is going to cover only the scholarship awards offered to students from EU countries.
In this scholarship, there are two open sections; scholarships founded by the University of St Andrews itself and external scholarships from alumni, charitable organizations and foundations, and we would cover them by section.
- Internal Scholarships Funded By The University of St Andrews;
These are scholarships awarded by the university itself to students that are seen as eligible. These scholarships are also funded by donations made by alumni to a particular department or sector of St Andrews University. They are;
- St Andrews Chemistry Purdie Scholarships:
This is an undergraduate scholarship, an entrance grant for new students who are just being admitted into the University of St Andrews for the first time.
This scholarship is department-specific, it is for undergraduate students with the goal of Chemistry or a Chemistry-related subject within the school of Chemistry.
This scholarship is tied to the department of chemistry and other courses related to it, therefore to be eligible, the candidate must be applying for an undergraduate degree in pure chemistry or a chemistry-related field.
- International Excellence Scholarships
This is an international scholarship, (but for students from countries under the EU)
It is also an undergraduate entrance scholarship and it is for academically exceptional students.
It is an academic award therefore, the selection committee would screen the candidates based on those who are typically confident, dynamic, gifted students with academic excellence.
This scholarship is a broad category of its own and once you are qualified for this scholarship, you would be considered (according to your level of eligibility) for a host of funding opportunities such as;
- International Excellence Scholarship
- Global Merit Award
- Olea Excellence Scholarship
You would then be funded by any of these scholarships.
- St Andrews BA International Honours Scholarship
This is for art majors. There is funding open for undergraduate students who are applying for a degree in the William & Mary joint degree Bachelor of Arts International Honours Programme commencing their first year at St Andrew’s.
This also, is an entrance scholarship, for students who are just gaining admission into St Andrews.
- Saints Abroad Scholarship
Finally! A scholarship that is not restricted to undergraduates.
This scholarship is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
It is not an entrance scholarship either because the applicants, whether postgraduate or undergraduate, must be currently enrolled at St Andrew’s and are studying or working abroad on this approved University programme as part of their degree.
- International Undergraduate Scholarships:
I know we have previously mentioned an international award, but this one is different because it comes in the form of a tuition fee waiver and unlike the rest, an exact amount is given.
This is also only for entrant undergraduate students, and as I stated earlier, it comes as a tuition fee reduction of up to £10,000 per year for each year of the student’s undergraduate studies and is awarded based on financial need.
This means that £10,000 out of their total educational cost at St Andrew’s University would be deducted.
There are also other scholarship opportunities within this one, so if you are not immediately eligible for the £10,000 waiver, you can also be considered for;
- Accommodation Award
- Student Association Scholarship
- International Donor Scholarships
- St Andrews Music Center Scholarships:
Calling upon all music lovers and talents! If you used to think that there is no funding for musical talents, I hope this has changed your mind?
St Andrews is offering this scholarship to students who have been accepted at the University and can demonstrate musical merit.
- St Andrews Saints Golf Scholarships:
I hear golf is an extremely difficult sport? So if you have a talent there, I admire you!
And also excited to tell you that there is a chance for you to be sponsored by the University of St Andrews if you have an outstanding talent in golf.
However, this scholarship is only for students who are already enrolled at the University of St Andrews, because that is how your talent would be noticed and considered for sponsorship.
- St Andrews Saints Sport Supported Athlete Programme:
A university that offers music, academic and sports funding? Colour me obsessed!
As for the golf scholarship, the same rule applies here except that in this case, it is not restricted to any particular sports.
Any activity you exhibit unique superiority in, that is considered sports, may be eligible for this scholarship.
That is all for the internal scholarship awards granted by the University of St Andrews and now, we would move on to the scholarships offered by external bodies, the University of St Andrews.
- External Scholarships Funded By Outer Bodies;
The following scholarships are administered and funded outside the University of St Andrews but may be available to eligible students who wish to attend the University.
They do not come from the bursary of St Andrews directly, however, it is only applicable if the applicant is willing to study at the University of St Andrews.
- Duncan Trust:
This is a Christain scholarship. It is a ministerial grant awarded to students who are training or intend to train, for the Ministry of the Church of Scotland.
This scholarship is not defined if it is an undergraduate or a postgraduate scholarship because it can be awarded at any time during the student’s course in the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Divinity
- Carnegie Vacation Scholarship:
Now, this is a unique scholarship. You know all those summer vacations that some students spend doing research or working with professors? Yes, this is that kind of scholarship.
The Carnegie Vacation scholarship supports undergraduate students who want to spend part of their vacation on a programme of independent research which will benefit their academic work.
This is an academic award too, and the applicant must have shown exceptional merit at university.
The scholarship is open to cover one year of the student’s educational expenses and it is advised that students applying for this scholarship are either in their last year at St Andrew’s or they are second to last year of study.
- Jack & Jones Scholarship
This is a department-specific scholarship that is definitely as fancy as it sounds.
It’s for fashion and business students!
This scholarship is open to undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students enrolled in fashion and business-related programmes.
- Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust
This is an entrance scholarship for undergraduate students that are applying for the first time to the University of St Andrews into any undergraduate programme that are (or are connected with) commercial travellers, grocers or chemists. This scholarship is awarded based on the financial need of the applicants.
- Entrepreneur Scholarship Programme:
This is for future business owners.
A scholarship for undergraduate and postgraduate students who can demonstrate academic excellence and entrepreneurial potential.
Conclusion:
These are the scholarships open for EU countries to the University of St Andrews. If you have any questions, please ask.
