In cooperation with the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, ALLEA launched the European Fund for Scientists to support Ukrainian scholars and institutions affected by the war for the 2022/2023 session.
The goal and objective of this funding are to support Ukrainian academic institutions in continuing and renewing their scientific operations and research collaborations, as well as supporting initiatives that facilitate the reintegration of researchers upon their return to Ukraine.
All Academies in Europe are under the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities.
It was established in 1994 and brought together more than 50 academies of sciences and learned societies from more than 40 member countries.
Antonio Loprieno has been the president of ALLEA since May 2018.
ALLEA acts on behalf of its members on the European and international stage, promoting and facilitating scientific collaboration across borders and disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a Ukrainian academic institution directly affected by the war to support them in continuing and restoring all scientific operations and research and also to support initiatives that aid the integration of researchers.
- All candidates must be from Ukrainian academic institutions operating in Ukraine or in exile (including virtually) whose educational activities were directly affected by the war. As a general rule, the maximum amount used should not exceed EUR 75,000 per institution.
- The requesting institution must provide a detailed description of the damage incurred and a budget overview detailing how the funds will be allocated.

The EFDS must be submitted as an attachment with short biographies of the grant-supported staff.

If your education were not in English, you would be expected to demonstrate an adequate level of English.
Benefits
The University will provide a maximum amount requested, which should not exceed €75,000 per institution. The fund is endowed with a total amount of 1.5 million dollars and has two components.
