Erasmus Mundus is a very competitive scholarship that awards only top excellent students for master’s degrees worldwide and Finnish Universities participate in several study programs which are funded by Erasmus Mundus Scholarships.

4. University of Helsinki Scholarships
The pioneer university offers scholarships that are intended for excellent students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who want to complete a Master’s programme at the University of Helsinki.
It is one of the oldest and largest Universities in Finland and also are among the top 1% of the world’s research universities.

Scholarship Grants At The University of Helsinki:
- Tuition Fee Scholarships:
All things being equal, tuition fees at the University of Helsinki range from 13 000 to 18 000 euros.
Therefore a scholarship may be awarded to a student of a particular degree programme covering either 50% or even 100 % of the tuition fee.
- Requirements:
- For all scholarships, students are required to study full time (earn at least 55 ECTS per year) to fulfil the requirements of the scholarship.
- After the first study year, the progress of your studies will be checked and, depending on your progress, the scholarship will be continued or ended
- You must meet the University of Helsinki admission requirements.
This scholarship is for two years.
- Finland Scholarships:
As part of the national scholarship programme, the University of Helsinki can grant a deserving student a Finland Scholarship.
Finland scholarships cover 100% tuition fee and also include a 5000 € relocation grant. The scholarship and the 5000 EUR will be renewed for the second year of your studies in case you complete at least 55 credits during your first study year.
This scholarship is awarded to candidates who applied for the international master’s degree programmes and have just received an offer to study from the University of Helsinki.
Eligibility:
- You are eligible for the Master’s programme at the University of Helsinki and you have received an offer to study which you accepted.
- You are liable for tuition fees; meaning you are a non-EU/EEA citizen.
- You meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for Finland.
- You have obtained excellent results in your previous studies and can prove this in your application.
5. University Of Eastern Finland Scholarships
All Universities are compliant with the Finland national scholarship programme and the University Of Eastern Finland is also offering a Finland scholarship.
- Finland Scholarship:
The Finland Scholarship is an entrance scholarship granted for the first year of Master’s studies and the students who receive it must be non-EU/EEA citizens who are liable to pay tuition fees.
Value of Finland Scholarship:
The scholarship is valued at € 13 000–15 000, depending on the total cost of students fee and UEF will grant a Finland Scholarship of € 5 000 for the two best applicants in each Master’s Degree programme.
The national Finland Scholarship programme is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
6. The University of Vaasa;
Scholarships offered by The University of Vaasa are applied for by choosing the scholarship option in the application form for the programme.
The scholarship applies to the tuition fee of the selected candidates and if selected, the candidates are informed about receiving a scholarship together with the admission results.
The University of Vaasa has a first-year – Finland Scholarship
Each Master’s Programme is awarded to the five most merited applicants who are subject to tuition fees.
The Finland Scholarship at the University of Vaasa covers:
100% of the tuition fee for the first academic year
5 000 EUR of relocation expenses.

You might be wondering why most scholarships here don’t apply to EU/EEA citizens. It is because EU/EEA study in Finland for free already, so it is done in a way that students from other international countries also feel the generosity of Finnish universities and not just concentrated on one country/ continent.
Finally, the students who are granted a Finland scholarship must confirm their study place in the programme by the deadline communicated to them with the admission decision. If not follow the deadline, the scholarship will be lost.
