About Google Lime Scholarship Awards for Students with Disabilities:

Google LLC, has partnered up with Lime Network, a server dedicated to disabled students and learning and funding opportunities open to them.

Like Network has worked with tons of reputable big brands like Microsoft, IBM, and The Kraft Heinz Company (which is the third-largest food and beverage company in North America and the fifth-largest food and beverage company in the world)  in a bid to support and find postgraduate, undergraduate and higher studies students with ambition and the dream to further their studies.

Although in this article, we would be focusing mainly on Google LLC which is the sponsor and main focus of this article.

Why Is Google Funding A Scholarship Awards for Students with Disabilities:

At first glance, it would be in humanitarian service.

At another glance, we all know that Google believes in the accessibility of information to all who seek it. In other words, Access to knowledge is our thing.

They believe in a no barrier form of education and even with such disabilities, there is a way to over the obstacle that wants to stand in your way of achieving your academic dreams in higher education, especially for promising scholars who really want to acquire such knowledge.

That is the reason why Google has been supporting the good work of Lime Network since 2008. 

Google is at the forefront when it comes to assisting promising innovators of the future by making use of the most of their talents by providing scholarships and networking retreats for computer science students with disabilities.

Yes, this scholarship is for computer science students with disabilities. You cannot support a cause you do not care or know enough about and Google, Of course, is passionate about the computing field and has seen the best of its innovation from brilliant young minds who people wrote off because of a stumbling block or the other.

Google refuses to write you off. They believe that intellect, talent, and knowledge are not restricted by disabilities whatsoever and whatever yours maybe, you are welcome to apply for this scholarship as long as you meet the required criteria.

Eligibility For Google Lime Scholarship Awards for Students with Disabilities:

• Candidates applying for this scholarship must be enrolled as full-time students for the 2022-2023 academic year. (Your registration will be verified after the winners are selected, and all scholarship payments will be made directly to the student to be used towards tuition and education-related expenses.)

• The students enrolled in the university must either be a current undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student enrolled at a university in the U.S. or Canada (freshmen/first years and international students studying in the U.S. or Canada are eligible to apply)

• The candidate, as the award stipulates, must be pursuing a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field (such as software engineering; or electrical engineering with a heavy computer science course load) and is maintaining strong academic performance.

• After being enrolled in computer science course, the candidate must be continuing current studies or intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student in a new program (e.g., graduating and pursuing an advanced degree) at a university in the U.S. or Canada in the 2022-2023 academic year, the year of the award receipt.

• The applying student must demonstrate leadership and a commitment to and passion for computer science and technology.

• Previous Google Lime Scholars are unfortunately not able to be considered

• This scholarship is not open to current high school students. You must be enrolled at a University in London or Canada.

• If for any reason is medical, the selected candidates can defer the award for up to one (1) year from the time of originally planned payment on a case by case basis as determined by Google. 

• A student with a visible or invisible disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function);

Value of Google Lime Scholarship Awards for Students with Disabilities:

The recipients of this scholarship would be awarded throughout the 2022/2023 academic year and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of the candidates’ academic background and a demonstrated passion for computer science – $10,000 for those studying in the US and $5,000 for those studying in Canada (based on tuition costs).

In addition, the selected candidates will also be invited to attend a Google Lime Scholars gathering in the Summer of 2022 and be considered for internship opportunities with Google in the Summer of 2022.
