International Academic Grants At University Of Utah 2021/2022

The university offers a range of scholarships such as
1. Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Scholarships
The University of Utah Under the Department of Education Is offering scholarships in Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships.
This scholarship is available to students in any department who added language study to their course load.
The University of Utah provides students who receive FLAS fellowships yearly with the sum of $648,000 to support their undergraduate and graduate study.

The university anticipates sending announcements to selected applicants for the academic session 2022-2023
The Asia and Latin American Studies Center at the University of Utah has received 4 years of funding from the US Department of Education.
The university intends to send announcements during spring or early summer to notify applicants if they are being selected for finalists.

if you do not have a University of Utah email please let our office know by writing flas@utah.edu.
Please also note that we only notify FLAS applicants who submitted their applications about their decision in taking the scholarship.
FLAS applications that were not submitted, will not be considered
Applicants with UNID should check the school site to which they will be directed to the application page where they will need to sign in with their UNID.
When you sign in you will need to complete your General Application.
Then search for the keyword “flas” and it will pop up
Then click on apply
Please while filling out your application make use of either Chrome or Firefox to avoid issues.
Applicant should please note that;
Their transcripts and letters of recommendation should be uploaded directly during their online application.
2. Dee Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Lawrence T. and Janet T. Dee Foundation, which is able to offer a few scholarships for the major’s purpose of supporting the participation of students in approved study abroad programs
This scholarship award will be used to cover tuition fees.
Value and details
Five selected applicants would be awarded a sum of $2,000;
The application closes on July 15th
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria for the scholarship
– You must be matriculated at the University
– You must be studying a degree program at the university
– You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
– You must have a declared major in IS or WLC
– You must have a plan or plan to participate in a study abroad program.
-They will be evaluated through
* Their clarity in stating their purpose of choosing to apply for the scholarship
* The impact the program will have on their academic and professional plans
* Their academic merit
* Their financial need
Applicant should pls know that
-When selected as a recipient, you must confirm approval of the program before receiving the scholarship.
– Awardees will be notified through their email 2-3weeks after the application deadline.

1. Bradley Parker Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be 2 students awarded yearly with the sum of $1,000 for each student in an undergraduate or graduate study program
students undergoing an undergraduate or graduate program and plan to travel abroad for their studies during the 2022-2023 academic session are eligible.
Learning Abroad programs as well as other academic-related travel studies will be of advantage to the applicant when selection is being

2. Rosaline Pao Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship award offers ranges from $1,000 – to $3,000 for undergraduate and graduate students.
The students must plan to travel to China for their studies and include China-focused study, language training, and research in their course unit in their 2022-2023 academic session.
Learning Abroad programs as well as other academic-related travel studies will be of advantage to applicants when selection is being
done

All awardees will be considered upon travel authorizations being granted.
3. Totoki Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship award, offer ranges from $1,000 – to $4,000 for an undergraduate and graduate study program.
The students must plan to travel to China for their studies and include China-focused study, language training, and research in their course unit in their 2022-2023 academic session.

4. Japan Foundation Scholarship
This Scholarship will be used to support undergraduate or graduate study programs for students studying the Japanese language.
Each recipient will be awarded up to a maximum sum of $4,000 toward their tuition fee.

This is a Learning Abroad program.
All awardees will be considered upon travel authorizations being granted.

5. Middle East Studies Study Abroad Scholarship
This scholarship awards recipients up to $1500 each for students participating in a study abroad program towards their tuition fee.
This scholarship is only available and accessible to students who are majors and minors in Middle East Studies.

6. Marion Farouk – Sluglett Award Paper Competition
The scholarship award was created in the year 1997 in honor and memory of Dr. Marion Farouk-Sluglett.
She is an internationally recognized scholar of the Middle East and Iraqi politics.
She taught at the University of Utah from September 1994 until her death in February 1996.
Every year, the Middle East Center select one outstanding undergraduate student and one talented graduate, to research the Middle East.
