Value of MasterCard Foundation Scholarship Awards:
This scholarship provides financial, social, and academic support to Scholars.
Financial support includes, but is not limited to, tuition fees, accommodation, books, and other scholastic materials.
In this collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, MasterCard empowers the said university to provide 200 full postgraduate and undergraduate scholarships to students from Africa with great academic and leadership potential but few educational opportunities.

Eligibility For The Mastercard scholarship;
The MasterCard foundation scholarship awards is for students, postgraduate students who are focused and interested in becoming well developed leaders who are transformative, active contributors in their various communities.
The eligibility requirements are as follows;
- You must qualify academically for admission to the University of Edinburgh. It is preferred and frankly advantageous to you that you apply to this scholarship BEFORE applying to the University.
- You must be a postgraduate student that meets the specific requirements:Postgraduate entry requirements are specific for each country, make sure to confirm that you meet your country’s requirements.
- You must be a resident and citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country, who is financially indisposed to accepting an offer from the University of Edinburgh for the continuation of studies.
- This means that you are able to present economically disadvantaged circumstances and be able to show that you lack financial means from family or other sources to pursue post-secondary (university) education in your home country or elsewhere.
- You must demonstrate a track record of leadership and service within your community; because this scholarship aims to improve such skills and evidence of such community service would be requested.
- Applications from Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe are especially welcome.
If you are not a postgraduate student yet want to apply for this scholarship, you must ensure that your graduation occurs before the awarding of this scholarship.
Because if you are selected and then found out to still be enrolled in another university, the scholarship would be withdrawn.
Applications & Deadlines:
For the 2022 session, the application would be through the online Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, for postgraduate degrees only and will commence on 31st January 2022 at 10 am UK time and will close on 14th March at 4 pm UK time.
