New York University Merit Wagner Scholarships Grants

New York University is offering a merit-based scholarship to students like you who wish to study in the USA.
These scholarships do not require you to submit an additional essay. The recipients are chosen based upon fit for the scholarship program and the strength of the application submitted.
All the scholarships in this article are merit-based, so your academic transcripts would make a lot of impact and play a major role in your eligibility.
In this article, I am going to introduce you to the various New York University Wagner merit scholarships available.
New York University Wagner Merit Scholarships
- Public Service Scholarship:
This scholarship is provided on humanitarian grounds to support students who are struggling financially.
Partial and half-tuition scholarships are awarded to applicants based on merit and strength of application, regardless of degree program or area of interest.
- Global EMPA Program Pentland Scholarship:
This scholarship is strictly for candidates from Africa, Asia-Pacific, or Latin America and will support outstanding candidates who have at least seven years of management-related experience, and can demonstrate a capacity to benefit from the program and a clear sense of how they can contribute to public service after receiving this scholarship.
This scholarship is also for financially struggling students, who lack the means to finance their own studies and evidence would be demanded to back up this claim.
Full tuition scholarship and stipend awarded to individuals to pursue the one-year, Executive MPA for Global Policy Leaders.
- Dean’s Scholarship:
This scholarship is not limited to anyone.
If you have a gleaming academic transcript, you may apply as this scholarship is awarded based on merit and strength of application, regardless of degree program or area of interest.
Full-tuition scholarships are awarded to applicants.
- Yellow Ribbon Program:
This scholarship is an opportunity for the enhancement Program for each eligible US veteran student.
The number of available scholarships here is dependent on the number of other benefits provided to an eligible student. You may not be eligible for the maximum amount each year.
The yellow ribbon program provides up to $10,000 of funding towards tuition and fees under the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Veterans Affairs will match funding for a maximum benefit of $20,000 each academic year.
- Military Service Scholarship:
As the name implies, this scholarship is awarded to applicants who are military service members or veterans of the US Armed Forces.
Only half of the tuition fee would be awarded in this scholarship.
- Global EMPA Fulbright Scholarship:
English students!
This scholarship is granted to one British Citizen to pursue the one-year, joint Executive MPA for Global Policy Leaders.
This scholarship will provide full tuition and a stipend for one semester of study.
- Bonner Program Scholarship:
This scholarship is granted to two, or less than two Bonner scholars pursuing full-time or part-time study.
The Bonner students need not pay an application fee when applying for NYU, including all Bonner alumni regardless of the semester for which you apply, but the scholarship is only available to those applying for Fall admissions
and it provides only half of the tuition fee.
- City Year Scholarship:
This is a half-tuition scholarship awarded to up to two City Year alumni interested in pursuing full-time or part-time study.
This is for postgraduate students who have studied and graduated from New York University and such candidates are only eligible to apply if you complete your service by the start of the Fall semester.
Like for Bonner students, candidates under this scholarship will not need to pay the application fee although they must be applying for Fall enrollment.
- Executive Leaders Scholarship:
This is a discount scholarship where 25% of tuition is slashed from the total academic expense of the recipient.
This scholarship is awarded to applicants of the Executive MPA for Public Service Leaders program based on merit and the overall strength of the application.
- Luther M. Gulick Scholarship:
This is an entrance scholarship courtesy of Luther M. Gulick and it is awarded only to newly admitted full-time and part-time students interested in international public policy or international development.
- May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation Scholarship:
Another entrance (but not limited to) external scholarship is also awarded to incoming or continuing students who work for public service organizations while enrolled at NYU Wagner.
So if you have done public service volunteering, this is an opportunity to flaunt it.
- Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP):
This scholarship is awarded by the Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP) where all applicants are submitted for scholarship consideration.
A total of two partial tuition scholarships were awarded for part-time study.
To be eligible, you must be a full-time NYC government employee and submit your application to (MGSP)
- The Harry S. Truman Scholarship:
This scholarship named after the 33rd president of the United States is awarded in form of a tuition waiver of 50% and will not be an application fee as it is covered by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship.

- NYU Wagner City Government Scholarship:
The NYU Wagner City Government Scholarship program is designed to allow students the opportunity to explore and/or deepen their interests in the power and promise of potential careers in the New York City government.
The scholarship provides a $7,500 stipend for students to intern on a part-time basis in their first year at Wagner with an NYC government agency.
- The Thomas R. Pickering Scholarship:
Another external scholarship where selected Pickering Fellows accepted to NYU Wagner will be considered for the scholarship.
The scholarship only provides the tuition fee expenses for full-time study although the entire cost is not covered by the Pickering Fellows Program, the scholarship lasts for two years.
- HBCU/HSI Scholarship:
Half-tuition scholarships are awarded to up to two incoming students who are alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and tribal colleges who wish to pursue graduate study on a full-time or part-time basis.
