Student direct stream in Canada is a study permit processing program that helps students, who wish to apply ASAP for a post-secondary DL institution in Canada.
Student direct stream in Canada is available to students, who are residing legally in any of the countries listed below;

However, in a case where an international student wishes to receive their student direct stream faster, they could make use of IRCC which processes most student direct stream application forms within 20 days, once students meet all eligibility criteria.
Please note, that only application forms submitted electronically will be considered for the student direct stream processing. All physical paper application forms will be processed, under the regular study permit application stream.
International students should note that just because they are eligible for the student direct stream, that doesn’t mean that they won’t fulfil other eligibility criteria set by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, also known as IRPA and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).

Eligibility Criteria for the Student Direct Stream in Canada
Applicants or students must possess the following before, they would be eligible to apply for the student direct stream in Canada.
- Applicants must possess documents that contain valid test results undertaken by them, within 2yrs after they received a date for their SDS application form. The document must reflect either of the English language test results outlined below;
- Applicants could possess a score not less than 6.0 but could be higher in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS), which includes major skills such as; listening, reading, writing and speaking.
- Applicants could also submit a document that contains their scores, for the Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF). However, the score must equal or be higher than a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB), in the following order; 310 for speaking, 249 for listening, 207 for reading and 310 for writing
- Applicants must possess a certificate that reflects their Guaranteed Investment Of CAN $10,000 or more, from any bank certified by the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation, or any bank that is verified and outlined on the IRCC student direct stream official website.
- Applicants must submit proof of their full tuition fees, paid for their first year at their Institution. These documents may be submitted in the following forms;
- A receipt is given to students from their designated learning institute.
- An official letter from the designated learning institute, confirms that applicants have paid their full tuition fees.
- Applicants could also submit a receipt from the bank, that states that full tuition fees were paid to the account of the applicant’s designated learning institute.
- Applicants could also submit a document, that proves that the tuition fee amount has been sent into a temporary account at their designated learning institute, and would later be used to clear off the debt of their tuition fees.
- Applicants must pose an acceptance letter, from their post-secondary designated learning institute.
- Applicants must submit previous academic results obtained at a post-secondary institute.
- Applicants must possess documents that reflect the completion, of all medical examinations from a certified doctor or physician. Applicants in the categories below are expected to submit a medical examination result;
- Applicants are students who had previously resided or travelled, in the past 6 months to other countries before coming to Canada.
- Applicants whose course of study, requires personal medical results must also submit their medical examination results.
- Applicants who wish to apply for the student direct stream in Canada could also possess the following documents;
- Applicants must submit an application form, for their study permit processed outside Canada (PDF 566 KB) international.
- Applicants should also submit a document, that contains relevant information about their family (PDF 1.56 MB). Although this is not necessarily important.
- Applicants’ application form for a temporary resident visa in Canada (PDF 533 KB), although this is optional
- Students who are married could submit their marriage licence, marriage certificate, or a form that contains their statutory declaration of a common-law union (PDF 637 KB).
- Applicants could also submit documents or forms that state that they were representatives (PDF 648 KB). However, this is not compulsory but optional.
- Applicants could also submit an application form that contains payments, made for both processing fees and biometric fees. However, this is not compulsory but optional.
- Applicants should also submit documents that state their country of residence, and other relevant information.
- Applicants could also submit photocopies of their biographic data page, which contains their passports.

Other Information About the Student Direct Stream in Canada.
In most cases during the application process for the student direct stream, applicants may be required to submit their fingerprints.
Once applicants have submitted a complete application, including payment for both fingerprint and processing fees, they would receive a biometric instruction letter also known as (BIL), which contains various instructions on how to submit biometrics or fingerprints.
Please note that applicants are expected to submit, any other relevant document specified by the visa office in Canada.
Officers are likely to also request additional documents from applicants or students at any time, to make certain relevant decisions on their application form.
Offers in charge of the student direct stream must be satisfied, by applicant authenticity and will leave Canada once the duration of their stay has come to an end.
