The candidate selected for the scholarship program receives the following benefits
The University under the GREAT scholarship program offers 5 scholarships to eligible candidates
This Scholarship offers a grant worth £10,000 which is used for the candidate’s tuition fees.
A GREAT scholarship might be combined with external funding as long as it does not cover 100% of your tuition.
The scholars are for a postgraduate degree

The Award would be taken in the United Kingdom
Requirement for the scholarship:
1. The scholarship is only open to new incoming students, therefore a current student of the University of York may not apply
2. Applicant must not hold any other scholarship that covers 100 percent tuition fee or a scholarship that is fully sponsored
3. Applicant must be either from Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey
4. Lastly, Scholarships are offered only for the following postgraduate programs
LLM Law
MA Applied Human Rights
LLM Art Law
International Corporate and Commercial Law (LLM)
LLM International Human Rights Law and Practice
Legal and Political Theory (LLM)
5. Applicant must have applied and received a conditional or unconditional offer to study a postgraduate course at the university
6. Applicant must meet the English language condition set by the university
7. Applicant must have a minimum UK equivalent 2:1 second class honors degree.
Method of application:
To apply, applicants are required to enrol in the postgraduate degree program at the University of York.
Applicants must apply for this scholarship online. As part of the application, you will need to provide answers to questions about your course of study and your goals for the future.

Students on the following pathways are not eligible for this scholarship
1. Hull York Medical School
2. GEMMA, CAPPER, and Mundus MAPP (This is because the Master’s course lasts longer than one year)
3. International Pathway College
4. Distance or Online Learning Courses
5. Kaplan International College London
6. Any Part-time Courses
Candidates should also note that this is a very competitive process, and only a small number of applicants per country will be successfully selected.
A panel of senior staff from the University will select the successful candidate to be awarded the scholarship.
Once offered a scholarship, the candidate must
Accept the offer formally, through the link within your offer mail.
This process must be completed by the deadline given in your offer email. Otherwise, candidates will lose their scholarship, and it will be given to a reserve candidate.
If a candidate defers their place at the University of York, the candidate cannot keep the scholarship but can reapply the following year.
Successful candidates will be required to represent the University of York and the British Council as an ambassador for the GREAT scheme.
