Voice of Democracy Scholarship was established in 1947, to show support for and uphold the voice of Democracy which has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFWs).

Each year the Voice of Democracy Scholarship Awards was granted to about 57,000 secondary school students with about 2 million dollars in scholarship fund available.

While applicants who applied for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form and are at the department level would receive the following Scholarship funds;

Applicants who won the voice of democracy scholarship after submission of their written and audio essays and are at the department level would receive a fee of about $2,000.00.

While other applicants who also applied for the voice of democracy scholarship application and did not win but were among the 4 finalists would each receive a monetary sum of about $1,000.00. 

The remaining District winners will each receive a check for $500.00. 

Lastly, applicants should note that anyone that wins the first position at the department level would enjoy benefits such as; Applicants would be brought to Washington, D.C. in February to enjoy the United States of America capital and compete for a monetary sum of $154,000 in national college scholarships within the Country.

Updated Eligibility Criteria for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship 2024 Application Form.

There are several criteria necessary that applicants must fulfil before applying for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form;

The Voice of Democracy application form is available to applicants or students who are presently in grades 9-12.

Apart from the fact that applicants or students must be in grades 9-12, they must also be registered and attend classes in either a public, private or parochial secondary school all within the walls of the United States of America. Applicants who are undergoing a home study program are free to apply as long as it is within the United States of America.

Please note that applicants do not necessarily have to be nationals of the United States of America but must be individuals residing permanently within the walls of the United States of America or applicants must have applied to become a permanent resident in the United States of America and their application form for residency is almost approved not denied can also apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form. 

Applicants who are foreigners are not eligible to apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form. 

Applicants who are students that are up to 20yrs of age or more cannot apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form. 

Applicants who were former winners of the Voice of Democracy Scholarship are not eligible to apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form. 

As part of the final requirements to pick out winners for the Voice Democracy Scholarship, each post must submit one application to their district for approval, and comply with a report through the reporting system at the department. 

How To Apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship [Year] Application Form.

So here’s how to apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form, for those who may be interested.Parents/guidance could help applicants with the application process.

Applicants should start by carrying out a personal audio record of about a 3-5-minute essay, which should then be transferred into a flashed drive or burnt into a CD. Please note that two applicants would not be allowed to share either one flash drive or CD.

Applicants would also submit a typed essay alongside the audio essay with a complete and well-written voice of democracy scholarship application form. 

Once applicants’ voice of democracy scholarship application form, written and audio essay is ready they should be submitted to either the school competition in charge of the Veterans of Foreign Wars office for approval.

In a case where applicants could not find the office for the Veterans of Foreign Wars or are unable to physically submit their application form alongside their written and audio essays to the office of the Veterans of Foreign, they could also email the requirements to the Veterans of Foreign Wars for judging.

Applicants must ensure that the written and audio essay was done personally by them in English and not by someone else.

Applicants who want to apply for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship application form but are deaf and dumb should send a written email to the Voice of Democracy National Office at youthscholarships@vfw.org to lay an appeal.

Please note that while recording the audio part of their essay they must not include any music, sound effects, poetry words or singing while recording the audio.

While the content of the written essay must not include any personal information but must include information such as their name, their school, their city and their place of birth.

In conclusion, a set of dates would be appointed for each application and submission of the Voice Democracy Scholarship application form for district level and department levels. Therefore anyone who meets the eligibility requirements written above is free to apply.
