It is an international scholarship provided fo5 such graduates who want to complete or start a master’s or doctoral programme undertaken at the Department of Physics at the University of Alberta.

This scholarship slot is open to just one International or Canadian student at the University of Alberta.
The scholarship involves the awarding of eighteen thousand dollars ($18,000) and this amount will be awarded to the selected candidates for up to 3 years of study.
If you do not complete your programme before the three years the scholarship covers, you would have to fund the rest of your schooling period. But, if you finish within the timeframe, the amount would be credited throughout your three years of study.

- Master’s Programs
For applicants aiming for a master’s degree at the University of Alberta Golden Bell Jar Graduate International Scholarship Grants, you are required to have completed a four-year bachelor’s degree, or its academic equivalent, from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta.
Also, you are supposed to meet the required admission grade point average of 3 on most 4-point grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on your most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent).
- Doctoral Programs
For candidates aiming for a doctoral program at the University of Alberta Golden Bell Jar Graduate International Scholarship Grant, you are expected to have completed a master’s degree, or it’s academic equal, from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta.
Just like for a master’s degree, an admission grade point average of 3 on most 4-point grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on your most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent) is required.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you will be required to provide a Letter of Invitation to study as a postgraduate student from the University of Alberta professor who has agreed to supervise you.
Also, an inter-institutional agreement is desirable but not mandatory. If there is no existing exchange agreement, your application should involve a new or established collaboration between professors from a Canadian institution and the candidate’s home institution will be accepted.
Your scholarship application and the required documents should be submitted directly to the University of Alberta International by candidates or their home institution through our electronic application form.
Candidates who do not apply before the deadline would automatically be disqualified.
Furthermore, The University of Alberta International is responsible for submitting eligible applications received before our internal deadline through Momentum on the candidate’s behalf.
This scholarship is only available for students who have been offered a spot at the University of Alberta to study a full-time program in the department of physics. Any other department will not be accepted for this scholarship.
Conclusion:
This scholarship cannot be deferred and are not renewable. If something occurs that needs you to defer the admission, then the scholarship would be passed onto the next eligible student and you will have to reapply next year.
Also, preference will be given to candidates who have not previously received a scholarship under any Global Affairs Canada scholarship program.
Finally, Scholarships are not taxable for either the Canadian institution or the scholarship recipient.
